MATERNITY DRESSESES: THE SFB EDIT
Psst⊠did you know our fierce boss lady is also a mum? Thatâs right⊠if thereâs one thing SFB knows well, itâs how to bring colour and fun into your wardrobe no matter where youâre at in life!
We grew pretty tired of seeing maternity dresses that were either ugly or uncomfortable (or both! đ). We think you deserve to feel relaxed, confident and beautiful during every stage of pregnancy and beyond.
Here are some tips and ideas on what to look for in maternity dresses (and some suggestions that we think are super cute). Whether you want to rock a mini, midi or maxi is entirely up to you!
Â
First stop: your growing bump! đ€°đ»
Choose free-flowing styles to accommodate your bump. Check out our bump and feeding friendly collection for lovely pieces with plenty of room. A shift-style dress minimises the appearance of a bump in the early days and works as an effortless option when youâre a bit bigger.
We love the Astrid dress for this reason! Made from 100% cotton, this summer frock has maximum movement room. We love the tiered ruffle details and tie-up straps. Or, for a pop of colour, try the Aviva on for size. This pink paisley mini is a great maternity dress without any structure around the middle. (And yes, it comes in more colours! Stock up!)
Prefer more of a defined silhouette? We got you, babe. Elastic is your friend, whether youâre looking at pants, leggings or dresses. Using elastic or adjustable waistbands mean you can switch from super loose to a little more cinched. This is a great way to continue to enjoy your maternity dresses well after pregnancy.
How cute is this cap sleeve maxi?! đ The Cora dress can adjust with you as your body changes. Let the waist belt out or pull it tight as you need.
Next up: feeding time! đŒ
If youâre breastfeeding (or simply need some more real estate for The Girls), then we think youâll love these options. Buying button-down tops and dresses before giving birth means that you will have an easier time when it comes to nursing. Thereâll be no need to buy new nursing clothes. Plus, when youâre out and about, a button-down maternity dress doesnât look like a boring nursing shirt. Win-win!
Made with functional buttons for easy access, our Alyssa dress is a great option for this scenario. Check out the cheerful print and gorgeous colour range!
And what about your pins? đł
Ok, letâs face it. Shaving your legs is entirely optional during pregnancy and showering will be a luxury in those first few weeks. Trust us, we know!
Maxis are a great solution for this. Remember to have fun with it! Choose a number that matches your spiri âpick some of your favourite colours, a flirty fabric or super cute embellishments like these tassels on the multicolour Heidi. Sitting in the sweet spot between maxi and midi, the Annika is a great maternity dress, too. Button top? Check. Waist ties? Check. This sunshine yellow frock comes with adjustable straps, too.

Styling a maternity dress is easy when theyâre THIS gorgeous.
All our dresses are made to be bold and bright. If you have a night out coming up or a special occasion, you can still look a million bucks with bub in tow. We have couple of tips for zhuzhing up any frock. Splurge on that Winter coat youâve had your eye on. No, really! Whether itâs a sleek and sexy trench coat or a ladiesâ military-style, double-breasted head turner, your maternity dress can pop under subtle colours and sharp silhouettes.
Or, if youâre in Queensland like us (and Summer is oh-so-toasty đ„”), we recommend a messy bun, a pair of earrings and some new sandals! We know you wonât have a lot of energy in this chaotic and wonderful time of life, but a couple of small changes like this can make you feel more chic. If you find a spare moment, why not try a bold nail polish, too?
